Our laboratory has been in operation for over 31 years, and functions as a center for transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scientific photography for biomedical researchers and diagnosticians. Our services are available to all members of the Michigan State University community, to off-campus academic and medical institutions, and to private industry. Our facility operates under a comprehensive quality assurance program, and is the only EM unit at MSU that is licensed by both CLIA and the College of American Pathologists (CAP).

We offer a wide array of techniques that can accommodate most types of biological samples. In addition to TEM, we have extensive experience processing larger specimens in glycol methacrylate (GMA) resins, such as Immuno-Bed and JB-4, for light microscopy. If you are planning a project that may require TEM, or wish to know more about the benefits of Immuno-Bed resin embedding, please contact us. We strongly advise prospective clients to consult us as early in the project as possible. We will be happy yo discuss the merits of the various resins, fixatives, buffers, and other processing options, in order to achieve the best possible results and minimize cost.
