Our specialties include the preparation and examination of muscle, nerve, and renal biopsies, blood preparations, lung tissue, eyes, and nasal cilia. Our technologists, with our more than 51 years of combined TEM experience, have worked on muscle tissue from an Egyptian mummy, tiger liver, frog skin, zebra mussels from Lake Michigan, human brain tissue from the Sudan, pathogenic organisms from water samples, cell cultures, bacteria, and tissue from just about every type of organ and domesticated animal. We also have considerable expertise in handling botanical specimens, particularly fungi and lichens.

  • Processing and embedding routine tissue samples for TEM
  • Processing cell suspensions, cultures, and blood fractions for TEM
  • Reprocessing tissue from paraffin blocks for TEM or Immuno-Bed
  • Semi-thin and ultra-thin sectioning for light and electron microscopy
  • Ultrastructural examination and photography
  • Scientific photography
  • Image analysis
  • Immuno-Bed and JB-4 embedding for light microscopy
